You’ve read this far and you might be asking yourself these questions:

Can I really write a book in 30 days?

I’m here to tell you that you really can write a book in 30 days or less. I’ve written books in a day (Fast Book Writing) and another book, Who Gets the Farm, which required a lot of research on a topic I didn’t know much about was written in just 5 days!

Let’s do the maths; just to show you how long it really takes to type a book from your head to the screen. Take a regular paperback book of 40,000 words or 200 pages. If you type 60 words per minute, it would take you about 11 hours of solid typing to produce your manuscript. That’s actually not that long, is it?

Or if you want to record your book instead, that would take less than five hours of talking. And I’m sure if you’re writing a book on a topic you’re passionate about, you can probably talk about everything you know until the cows that come home.

Won’t the quality be compromised if I write my book quickly?

I get asked this a lot and it drives me nuts, so let me be frank here. There are plenty of books that have taken years to write that are crap. There are many books that have been written quickly that are equally crap.

What this means is that time does not reflect quality.

I know many authors who have taken five years to write their books. Yes, that’s a long time and that’s because they didn’t sit down every day for five years and write. They did bits here and there. Then there were long periods where they wrote nothing, waiting for time or inspiration.

Regardless of how long it takes you to write your book, you are going to re-read your manuscript after you’ve written it and make any changes, as well as get it edited and proof read, which will polish it up very professionally.

I’m not a very good writer, so how can I write a book?

There’s quite a lot I want to say to you if you’re thinking this!

Firstly, a book doesn’t have to be of Shakespearean proportions to have an impact on the world.

Secondly, if you can talk passionately about your topic, then you just need to share your message, knowledge and wisdom with your audience as if you were speaking directly to them.

It’s easy to stand in your own way, telling yourself that you’re not good enough to write a book, but let me tell you – you are! Don’t let yourself give in to this doubt. Trust that you can share your message with the world in a quality book.

And I’ll let you in on a little secret… there’s an awfully written book that is currently the most popular book in the world right now. It’s barely been edited and proof read, and yet it has sold millions and is about to be released as a blockbuster Hollywood film.

Why do I need to do a Bootcamp when I could just write at home by myself?

You’re completely right. You could sit at home staring at your screen and write your book. But the real question is, will you?

The biggest advantage of writing your book in the Bootcamp is that you’ll have me on hand to guide you and show you the quickest and easiest way to get your book written.

If you’re like me, you now consume your books in different formats: audio books (love, love, love this format as a busy mum), print (yes, I still buy lots of these), and eBooks (these sell by the millions each day).

What’s the Cost of Not Doing the Bootcamp?

Think ahead one year, two years, three years… imagine how your life and business will change if you write your book. Now imagine what it will be like if you don’t take this opportunity to get your book written. What will it cost you in terms of time to grow your business, your authority, and your client list. Why should you listen to me?

Great question! Aside from being a lovely and caring person (I know, I’m biased, but I think it’s important to work with kind and friendly people), I know my stuff. For years, I longed to write a book, but I just didn’t know what to write about. I didn’t think anyone would want to read what I had to share. And I didn’t really know how to write and publish a book. Last year, I wrote a book with my husband, Nick Shady, called Who Gets the Farm: a practical guide to farm succession planning. I’ve since written my book called Fast Book Writing along with three chapters for compilation books. I’m also working on a very lengthy book called Write Publish Leverage: grow your business and profile by becoming a published author.

I know what it’s like to be where you are right now. Wanting to write a book, but feeling overwhelmed.
