Secrets of Success

successbook-cover-200x300I was invited to write a chapter on success by Wellbeing Magazine in the UK, which is published by Mithra Publishing.

There were lots of topics I could have written about with regard to success, but in th end, I chose a topic that isn't commonly discussed when talking about success – knowing when to quit.

Ironically, I had originally come up with this topic for another book, but it wasn't a good fit for Superwoman Myths. So I was able to re-work my contribution and it evolved into what I consider a very sound and hopefully helpful peice of advice.

Knowing when to quit or stick with something is an invaluable skill. I find that women especially say they will do something and then no matter what happens, they stick with it. There are great reasons to stick through hard times to achieve an outcome, but it can be madness to stick with something that is killing you from within, makes you unhappy or doesn't serve you any more.

“There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors.”

Aldous Huxley

I encourage you to think about all those things that make up our busy lives and really look at those things that bring you joy and those that bring you down. Of course, like everyone, I have to do things I don't like, such as housework and washing, but I do love having a clean house and fresh laundry. But that doesn't mean I have to suffer doing endless things that bring me no joy, and neither do you.

It's time to say no and to let go of activities, commitments and even relationships that no longer serve you. Life is so precious. Why waste it doing things you don't like?

Along with my chapter, there is also great information on goal setting and other success strategies. Secrets of Success: Unlocking the Secrets of a Successful Life was published in March 2015 by Mithra Publishing in the UK in print and eBook versions.
